verden under aller west germany

with 3 comments

To whomever was searching the internet for “verden under aller west germany”:

It is “Verden an der Aller” and it means the same thing as “Verden on the Aller” and almost the same as “Newcastle-upon-Tyne”.

However, “Verden an der Aller” is pronounced in a way that sounds exactly like “Verden under Aller”.  But I hope that Verden will not be under the Aller (the Aller is a river) any time soon.

  1. Do you live in or near Verden? If you do, please let me know. I am trying to find information about the town and cannot locate it online. I believe that my ancestors are from Verden.
